Grizzly Man: Karl Lagerfeld and His Teddy Bear

Warm and fuzzy are not words ordinarily used to describe fashion king Karl
Lagerfeld. That is, before he whipped up a teddy bear in his likeness
complete with signature sunglasses, skinny black suit, starched white shirt,
and tie. Gloria Baume and I attended the party at Colette celebrating the
haute stuffed animal and caught a glimpse of the Kaiser holding his mini-me.
They say a picture's worth a thousand words, but is a teddy bear worth a
thousand euros?

Crowning Glory: A Night with Jeff Koons at Versailles

A trip to Paris wouldn't be complete with a visit to Versailles, but with
editors' fashion week days jam-packed with shows and appointments, such a
civilized proposition is usually pure fantasy. Enter "Nuits Blanches,"
Paris's all-night cultural festival that happens the first Saturday of every
month. Upon hearing that Marie Antoinette's former stomping grounds would be
open after hours, fashion director Gloria Baume and I made a date with
history. And, as if traipsing through Louis XIV's bedroom and seeing the
spectacular gardens all lit up at night wasn't inspiration enough, there was
the added benefit of a Jeff Koons exhibition (up through mid-December, in
case anyone is planning at trip to Paris).

A Chanel Sign Off

I can't think of a better way to end this crazy month of fashion than with Chanel, for me at least. I head back to New York tomorrow morning, so it's au revoir runways, too-high heels, models and gorgeous clothes!
This morning's show, held in the stunning Grand Palais, put everything else to shame. Well, almost everything. Karl Lagerfeld presented candy colored dresses layered with the house's signature chains, perfect for the starlets in his enthusiastic front row.
It was the perfect end to a perfect month. Hope you guys had as much fun as I did! You know where to find me if you're in need of fashion fun between the seasons.

Front Row Guessing Game!

Living in New York, and working in fashion, I see my fare share of A-list celebs. But I had big expectations for Paris. This is the Fashion Week of Fashion Weeks, after all, and the most stylish stars should come to play.
But while the clothes on the French runways rocked my world, there was a serious lack of front-row flashbulbs --until the Chanel show this morning.
There are five people of fashion note in the picture above. Can you name them?

Nude Eyebrows

Yesterday, I told you how to get the most perfect intense pout. But if you'd rather focus your make-up efforts on your eyes, check out Gareth Pugh and Rick Owens runways.
The artists at each show swept concealer and face powder over models eyebrows to make the eyes, and eyelashes, really pop.
Sweep on some chapstick, bat your lashes and enjoy the attention.

Model Overload

With all the catwalk queens squeezing into YSL's front row at the Grand Palais tonight, one had to wonder if there would be enough models left over to, well, model in the actual show. From Lily Donaldson and Audrey Marnay, who arrived and took their seats fashionably late (after the first look came out) to Claudia Schiffer and current YSL campaign girl Naomi Campbell, who flanked famed photographer Mario Testino, the supers were out in full force. So what was their response when their counterparts took to the runway? Naomi Campbell for one wasn't afraid to play favorites. She hooted and hollered for Chanel Iman.

Slouching Toward Spring

There's a conversation raging at Fashionista about the strong presence of Fall clothes on what's supposed to be the Spring runways.
Examples?

Isabel Marant, Helmut Lang and Yves Saint Laurent have all shown a similar look of slouchy bottoms paired with structured jackets. The jackets range from denim to silk to linen, but they all share slender cuts and defined shoulders.
As long as you pair them with something other than pajama pants, you can't really go wrong.

Models 101

I've kept you posted on your favorite models this season, but now that the week, month, is coming to a close, I think it's time to introduce you to some new girls.
Things were hectic backstage at Haider Ackerman's Spring show: Bumble hairstylists built hats out of hair and MAC makeup artists drew on mid-eye lid liner, but I stole a few minutes with three of the models.
First, Rebecca Chandler, she's from England and got her fashion start walking in July's Couture shows here in Paris. The nineteen-year-old is easing her way into the industry, walking just London and Paris this season. Her favorites? "I loved Ossie Clark, but this [Haider Ackerman] one's actually my absolute favorite. I want to wear everything he's made for spring!"

Parlez Vous Obama?

Even at Paris Fashion Week, pre-show chatter has been all about the elections. The truly devoted (or jet-lagged) will be tuning in to watch the VP debate live at 3am Paris time thanks to a Conde Nast-hosted screening at The Ritz. No small order considering the Chanel show is bright and early tomorrow morning. So much to do and so little time! Multitaskers may also want to take note of the new Obama Baggus from our favorite eco-tote company: obamabaggu.myshopify.com. All the proceeds go to the Obama 08 campaign, so you can get out the vote and save the planet in one fell swoop.

Fashion Hearts Obama

Just because I'm in Paris, and just because the week's focus is fashion, doesn't mean the United States Presidential elections aren't a major topic of discussion.
In London, Nicole Farhi decorated her pretty summer dresses with Obama '08 pins, last night at Sonia Rykiel's 40th anniversary party, the Rodarte sisters sent out a dress in tribute to the French designer, but also in favor of Barack Obama.
And then this morning, at Stella McCartney's cartoon inspired show, she left notes on everyone's seat with a special "P.S. V.O.T.E. Obama!!"
I wish I could trade votes for clothes!
